How to register, step by step
Five stages, and unlike Myntra there is no selection queue in the middle — the account exists as soon as you complete them.
1. Sign up at seller.flipkart.com
Enter your mobile number and email, and verify both by OTP. This becomes your login for Seller Hub going forward, so use details you will keep.
2. Enter business and GST details
Business name, type (proprietorship, partnership, private limited) and GSTIN. Flipkart validates the GSTIN against GSTN records during signup, so a typo here bounces immediately rather than later.
3. Add your pickup address and bank details
The pickup address is where Flipkart’s logistics partner collects orders, so it needs to be somewhere staffed during courier hours. The bank account should be in the registered business name to avoid a payout mismatch later.
4. List your first product
Through the catalogue upload — single-product form for a first listing, or a bulk Excel template once you have a full range ready. Category, images meeting Flipkart’s size and background specs, and a size chart for apparel are what usually slow this step down, not the registration itself.
5. Go live
Once the first listing is approved, the product is searchable and orderable. Some restricted categories — jewellery, select electronics — need an additional category-specific approval on top of the base registration; most apparel and accessories categories do not.
| Document | Why it’s asked | Common mistake |
|---|---|---|
| GSTIN | Required for most categories — Flipkart validates it against GSTN records during signup | A GSTIN registered to a different trade name than the seller account |
| PAN card | Business PAN for a company/firm, personal PAN for a proprietorship | Uploading a personal PAN against a private limited company account |
| Cancelled cheque or bank statement | Confirms the payout account and matches it to the registered name | An account not in the registered business or proprietor’s name |
| Pickup address proof | Where Flipkart’s logistics partner collects your orders | An address that can’t receive a courier pickup during business hours |
| Email and mobile number | For OTP verification and all seller communication going forward | Using a number you won’t keep — changing it later needs a support ticket |
Checked against Flipkart’s seller onboarding flow, 6 September 2026. A small number of restricted categories (jewellery, certain electronics) ask for extra category-specific approval after this — that is separate from account registration itself.

Can you sell without GST?
For most categories, no — Flipkart validates a GSTIN during signup and most product categories require one to list. A narrow set of GST-exempt goods can sometimes register without it, but apparel, footwear and accessories are not in that set, so a GSTIN is the realistic requirement for a StitchMagic seller.
If you are not yet GST-registered and want to test demand before registering, Meesho accepts some unregistered sellers in eligible categories and is the more common starting point for that reason.
What slows registration down
- GSTIN trade name mismatch — the name on your GST certificate has to match what you enter, or validation fails immediately
- Bank account not in the registered name — a proprietorship trading under a shop name needs the account in the proprietor’s personal name, matching the GST registration
- Catalogue images off-spec — not the registration step itself, but the reason “registered” sellers often aren’t live yet; fix this with a correctly sized image before uploading
- Restricted category approval — jewellery and select electronics need a separate review after base registration; budget extra time only if you sell in one of these

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Flipkart seller registration free?
Yes. There is no signup fee or listing fee to register and list your first product. Flipkart earns through commission, a fixed fee and shipping on each order once you are selling, not through onboarding charges.
Do I need GST to sell on Flipkart?
For essentially every apparel, footwear and accessories category, yes — Flipkart validates a GSTIN during signup for most product categories. A narrow set of GST-exempt goods can sometimes register without one, but that set does not typically cover fashion.
How long does Flipkart seller registration take?
The account itself can be created and your first product listed within a single session, since registration is open and self-serve — there is no selection queue like Myntra runs. What actually takes time is getting your catalogue images and sizing to specification, and, for restricted categories like jewellery, an additional approval step.
How do I list products in bulk on Flipkart?
Through Seller Hub’s bulk upload, using Flipkart’s category-specific Excel template rather than adding products one at a time. This is worth setting up once you have more than a handful of SKUs, since the single-product form is slow at any real scale.
Can an individual register as a Flipkart seller?
A sole proprietor with GST registration can register directly — you do not need a private limited company. The registered business name, GSTIN and bank account all need to match each other, which is the detail that trips up individual sellers most often.
What is the difference between Flipkart and Myntra registration?
Flipkart is open and self-serve — anyone with the right documents can register and list immediately. Myntra is selection-based: it reviews your brand and catalogue before approving you, and can decline an application entirely. Flipkart will take unbranded wholesale stock; Myntra generally will not.
Flipkart changes its onboarding flow, category rules and commission structure, and none of them are published as fixed figures. Everything here was checked in 6 September 2026 — confirm current details in Seller Hub at the point of registering rather than planning against any number from a blog, including this one.
