The Flipkart listing image size that passes catalog QC on the first try is 1000×1000 pixels, square, on a white background, saved as JPEG under 5 MB. Flipkart will accept anything from 500×500 upward, but images below 1000×1000 do not trigger the zoom viewer on the product page, and listings without zoom convert measurably worse. Additional images can go up to 1200×1200.
The mistake that gets catalogs rejected is not resolution — it is aspect ratio. A photo shot vertically on a phone is 3:4, and stretching it to a square distorts the garment. Pad it to square with white instead of stretching: the resizer above does this automatically, adding white bars rather than warping the product. Keep the product filling roughly 85% of the frame, with no props, watermarks, text overlays, or brand logos in the main image.
Category matters at the margin. Apparel and footwear listings do best with a model or mannequin shot as the main image; jewellery and accessories with a straight-on product shot. Lifestyle and in-context shots are allowed as secondary images only — never as the primary.
