Flipkart Commission Rates by Category

Indicative only, to show how far rates spread across categories. Commission is charged on the selling price; fixed fee and shipping are flat ₹ per order. Read your own from Seller Hub — these move, and a price set against a stale figure loses money on every order.

How Flipkart Settlement Works

1

Customer pays selling price

Flipkart collects the full selling price (including GST) from the customer at checkout.

2

Flipkart deducts fees

Commission (% of selling price), fixed fee per order, forward shipping (Flipkart's logistics), and ~2% payment gateway charge.

3

GST charged on Flipkart fees

Flipkart adds 18% GST on its commission + fixed fee + shipping (you can claim Input Tax Credit if you're GST-registered).

4

You receive settlement (T+7 to T+15)

After the 7–15 day return window closes, the net amount lands in your bank account. Standard settlement: every Tuesday/Friday.

How Flipkart Bank Settlement Is Calculated

The bank settlement amount in Flipkart is the money Flipkart actually transfers to your bank account for an order — the customer's selling price minus every deduction Flipkart applies. It is not your profit, and it is not the order value you see in the dashboard. Your product cost still has to come out of it.

Flipkart deducts five things before the transfer: commission on the selling price, a fixed fee per order, forward shipping charged on billed weight, a collection fee on the payment, and GST levied on those Flipkart charges rather than on your product. What lands in your account is what remains. Every one of those five is set by your own rate card, and several of them differ by category — so the mechanics below are stable and the amounts are yours to read.

Worked example — a ₹999 saree

Illustration only. Every rate below is a placeholder to show the order of the arithmetic — replace all of them with your own figures from Seller Hub before you price anything.

LineAmount
Selling price paid by customer₹999
Commission (your category rate)− ₹165
Fixed fee per order− ₹25
Forward shipping (0.5 kg billed weight)− ₹30
Collection fee on the payment− ₹20
GST on those Flipkart fees− ₹43
Bank settlement amount credited₹716

The point of the example is the shape, not the figures: what reaches your bank is well below the sticker price, and your product cost still comes out of what is left. A “price minus cost” sum overstates profit every time. Run your own rate card through the calculator above.

Why your bank settlement is lower than you expected

Three deductions catch sellers out most often. Billed weight is the higher of actual weight and volumetric weight, so a light but bulky lehenga can be billed at 2 kg. Return shipping on an RTO order is charged to you both ways while the sale itself earns nothing. And GST on fees is often forgotten — it is 18% on top of Flipkart’s charges, though GST-registered sellers can claim it back as Input Tax Credit.

Where to see your settlement in Seller Hub

Flipkart publishes the per-order breakdown under Payments → Settled Transactions, and a downloadable statement under Payments → Reports. Settlements run on a schedule Flipkart publishes, after the return window on the order closes, so the money lands some days after delivery rather than at the sale. If an amount looks wrong, the sales-report line item shows every individual deduction against the order ID.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the bank settlement amount in Flipkart?+

The bank settlement amount is the money Flipkart actually transfers to your bank account for an order — the selling price minus commission, the fixed fee, shipping, the collection fee and GST on those charges. It is always well below the order value, and it is not your profit either: your own product cost still comes out of it. The per-order breakdown is in Seller Hub under Payments → Settled Transactions, which is where your real numbers are.

How is Flipkart commission calculated?+

As a percentage of the selling price excluding GST, plus a fixed per-order fee and a shipping charge on billed weight — the higher of actual and volumetric weight. The percentage is set by category and changes, so read yours from the current rate card and enter it above rather than trusting any figure quoted elsewhere, including on this page.

What is the commission rate for sarees on Flipkart?+

It is set by category and revised periodically, and Flipkart distinguishes between apparel subcategories, so there is no single number that stays correct. The table above is indicative of the spread; the figure that matters is the one on your own rate card in Seller Hub → Settlement → Pricing & Commission. Enter that in the calculator above.

Does Flipkart charge GST on commission?+

Yes. Flipkart charges 18% GST on all its fees (commission + fixed fee + shipping). If you are GST-registered, you can claim this as Input Tax Credit (ITC), so the effective cost is just the base fee. If you are not GST-registered, the 18% is a real cost — factor it into your pricing.

How much does Flipkart charge for shipping?+

Flipkart's forward shipping fee depends on weight and zone. For sarees/kurtis (~0.5 kg), domestic shipping is ₹30–60. Heavy items (lehenga, footwear) ₹80–150 per kg. Reverse shipping (returns) is typically ₹40–70 per return regardless of weight, charged only on the returned order. Flipkart Plus sellers get 30–50% discount on shipping.

What is the difference between fixed fee and commission?+

Commission is a percentage of selling price (varies by category). Fixed fee is a flat ₹ amount per order regardless of price (₹15–35 depending on category). On low-priced items, the fixed fee can be a bigger pain than commission — a ₹50 product with ₹25 fixed fee loses 50% to that single line item.

How to reduce Flipkart commission?+

Three legitimate ways: (1) Apply for Flipkart Plus seller program — gives 1-2% lower commission for high-volume sellers. (2) Move to F-Assured for premium category exposure (Flipkart pays for some shipping). (3) Aggregate orders into Flipkart Smart shipments — bulk shipping is cheaper per unit. (4) Negotiate category-rate-cards if your monthly GMV exceeds ₹5L+.

When does Flipkart pay sellers?+

Flipkart settles payments twice a week (Tuesday and Friday) after the 7-day return window closes. So for a Wednesday order: returns close on day 10, settlement happens on the next Tuesday/Friday (so T+12 to T+15 typically). For perishables/cosmetics, the return window is shorter (3 days), settlement faster.

What's the difference vs Meesho commission?+

Meesho takes 0% commission on most categories — it makes money via shipping markup and ads. Flipkart takes 8.5% to 20% commission depending on category but has lower shipping and bigger order volumes. For sarees: Meesho cheaper per order but Flipkart drives more units. Most sellers list on both. Use the Meesho commission calculator for comparison.
