The 29 current eight-digit jewellery lines under 7113 and 7117 all carry 3% GST, with one carve-out: lac or shellac bangles. Gold, silver and platinum lines split by what the piece is studded with; imitation lines split by base metal versus other materials.

8-digit lines: GST portal HSN master (search), read 11 Oct 2026. GST: Notification 9/2025, from 22 Sep 2025. Lac or shellac bangles are left out of the 3% entry in Schedule IV, so check their rate separately before they go on an invoice.

Heading 7102 is diamonds and heading 7104 is synthetic or reconstructed stones, so a lab-made diamond in a gold ring goes under 7113 19 14, not 19 13. These studded splits came in from 1 May 2023 through the Finance Act 2023 Third Schedule, which replaced 7113 11 20, 7113 11 30 and 7113 19 10 to 7113 19 50.

The portal still accepts those older lines, such as 7113 19 10 for plain gold, so an old invoice is not wrong at 4 or 6 digits. For a new listing or an e-invoice that asks for 8 digits, use the current line from the table above.

Jewellery HSN code 7113 for gold, silver and platinum

HSN 7113 covers articles of jewellery and their parts, made of precious metal or of metal clad with precious metal. The tariff splits it three ways: 7113 11 for silver, 7113 19 for other precious metal (gold, platinum) and 7113 20 for base metal clad with precious metal (DGCIS chapter 71, read 10 Oct 2026).

Chapter 71, Note 9 counts rings, bracelets, necklaces, ear-rings and pendants as "articles of jewellery". At 8 digits, unstudded gold jewellery is 7113 19 11, gold set with natural diamonds 7113 19 13 and a plain silver ring 7113 11 41.

Jewellery HSN code split: 7113 for precious-metal jewellery and 7117 for imitation jewellery

Gold-plated or imitation? That moves it to 7117

Gold-plated alloy jewellery belongs on the artificial jewellery HSN code page: it is 7117, not 7113. The 7117 heading reads "of base metal, whether or not plated with precious metal", and chapter 71 Note 11 lets imitation jewellery carry precious metal "as plating or as minor constituents" (DGCIS, read 10 Oct 2026).

Plating is not cladding. The 7113 20 line needs base metal "clad" with precious metal, and Note 7 defines that as a covering fixed by soldering, brazing, welding, hot-rolling or similar mechanical means. Electroplated gold on brass stays in 7117, so a site that gives 711319 for artificial jewellery has picked the gold line by mistake.

Your alloy, oxidised, kundan-look and American-diamond sets are 7117. They leave it only with genuine pearls or stones, or more than minor precious-metal content; the 7117 lines and their edge cases are on that page.

Jewellery HSN code and 3% GST on a Meesho or Flipkart listing

On Meesho and Flipkart, enter 7113 or 7117 in the HSN field and 3% in the GST field, and repeat the same pair on your invoice. The rate goes by material, not price, so jewellery has no per-piece price band.

  1. Pick the row that matches what the piece is made of; ask your supplier if the metal is not stated.
  2. Enter 4 digits (7117) if last year’s aggregate turnover was up to ₹5 crore, or 6 digits (711719) above ₹5 crore (CBIC Notification 78/2020–Central Tax, from 1 April 2021).
  3. Choose 3% for both 7113 and 7117 (Notification 9/2025-IT(Rate), Schedule IV); lac or shellac bangles are not in that entry, so check them separately.
  4. Use the same code and rate on the tax invoice and in GSTR-1 Table 12 (GSTN advisory).

Worked case: a supplier lists an oxidised alloy jhumka set at ₹199 and a 925 silver ring. The jhumkas go in as 7117 at 3%. The ring goes in as 7113 at 3%, or 711311 above ₹5 crore turnover.

Checked against our HSN finder

A jewellery search in the StitchMagic HSN code finder returns two rows from our dataset: "Fashion / imitation jewellery" under 7117 and "Fine jewellery" under 7113, each at 3% sourced to Schedule IV.

Jewellery box HSN code and making charges

A jewellery box takes the heading of its outer material, not a jewellery heading. Chapter 42 lists 4202 31 10 (leather outer surface), 4202 32 10 (plastic or textile) and 4202 39 10 (other). Handicraft jewellery boxes fell from 12% to 5% GST at the 56th GST Council (PIB, read 4 Oct 2026); for other boxes see the bags HSN code page.

Making or labour charges billed on their own are a service with their own rate, not 7113. We have not verified that rate, so we print none; look up the SAC on the GST portal search or ask your CA.
