What an AWB is, and why you cannot generate one
An Air Waybill number is the courier’s tracking reference for a single consignment. It is issued by the carrier — Delhivery, Bluedart, Ekart, XpressBees — from a block allocated to them, and it exists in their system before it exists on your label.
That is why no tool can generate one. A made-up AWB is a number that scans as nothing at the hub and tracks nothing anywhere. If a site offers to create AWB numbers, it is producing barcodes of fiction.
What you legitimately do with AWBs
You print them. Three situations come up regularly:
Re-labelling a damaged label. A label torn or smudged in the warehouse needs replacing before pickup, and the AWB stays the same.
Manifest and handover sheets. A courier picking up forty parcels wants a scannable list, not forty separate labels to key in.
Internal tracking. Matching AWBs to your own order records at dispatch, so a customer query resolves without opening the panel.
All three are the same job: a list of real numbers, turned into barcodes a scanner can read.
Where your AWB numbers come from
Three routes, depending on how you ship.
Marketplace orders. Flipkart, Meesho and Amazon assign the AWB when you mark an order ready to dispatch, and print it onto the shipping label. For those you rarely need this tool — you need the label cropper instead.
A courier aggregator. Shiprocket, Nimbuspost and similar issue an AWB per shipment and expose them in bulk, usually as a CSV. That export is what this page is built for.
Direct with a courier. A contracted account gets a block of AWBs, and you assign them to consignments yourself.
In every case the number comes to you. Paste the column here, one per line, with an optional reference after a comma so each label carries something a human can read.
Label size and what a courier expects
The barcode has to survive a scanner at speed, in poor light, on a parcel that has been in a van.
Code 128 is the right symbology and what this tool uses. It handles the letters and digits an AWB mixes, it is what courier scanners expect, and it is compact enough for a 4×6 label.
Size it generously. An AWB barcode squeezed onto a 38 mm sticker has bars too narrow to read reliably. The tool shows the bar width in millimetres as you change label size, and warns below about 0.25 mm — which is roughly where a 203dpi thermal printer stops resolving them.
Keep the number printed underneath. When a scan fails, someone reads it out. A barcode with no human-readable fallback turns a two-second problem into a phone call.
