Wholesale websites India: how each one works
Two of the four show a “Post Requirement” enquiry button, one describes itself as connecting buyers and suppliers, and one asks a retailer for KYC. IndiaMART and ExportersIndia send your requirement to sellers; TradeIndia lists suppliers; udaan has you sign up and pass KYC with a GSTIN or Shop License. Cells show what each site's own page says, or a dash where it says nothing.
| Site | How a buyer orders | What the site asks a buyer for | What it says it sells |
|---|---|---|---|
| IndiaMART | “Post Requirement” or “Get Best Price” enquiry to sellers | — | B2B marketplace across categories |
| TradeIndia | — | — | “Connects buyers and suppliers”; SMEs, large enterprises, individuals |
| ExportersIndia | “Post Requirement”: “Tell suppliers what you need.” | — | Manufacturers, exporters and suppliers |
| udaan | Sign up, KYC, then buy; “flexible financing options” | Mobile number, business name, pin code; GSTIN or Shop License for KYC | Staples, snacks, beverages, daily essentials, medicines |

Best wholesale website in India: how we checked these four
We read each company's own home or About page on 22 Oct 2026 and recorded three things: how a buyer places an order, what the site asks a buyer for, and what it says it sells. We did not place orders, did not compare prices and did not copy any supplier or buyer count, because those numbers are the sites' own claims and change often.
That is also why this page has no single “best”. An enquiry site suits a buyer who wants to negotiate each lot: you post once, several sellers answer, and you choose. A retailer site such as udaan suits a shop that reorders the same stock and can pass KYC with a GSTIN or a shop licence. The right online wholesale market is the one whose ordering model matches how you buy.
Four sites made the list because each states its buyer flow on a public page we could read logged out. Others that sellers search for, such as Flipkart Wholesale, were not checked on that date, so they are left out rather than described from memory. Physical markets and product categories are on our wholesale markets page.
B2B wholesale India: the four sites
Each entry uses the same six parts so you can read across them. Quotes are from the site's own page, read 22 Oct 2026; where the page was silent, the entry says so.
1. IndiaMART
IndiaMART works by enquiry: you press “Post Requirement” or “Get Best Price”, and sellers listed on it reply to you with their terms. Its home page calls it “India's Largest Online B2B Marketplace”; that is the company's own description, read on 22 Oct 2026.
- Best for
- A reseller who wants several quotes for one product, such as 200 printed kurtis, and is ready to compare and negotiate each reply.
- Key facts
- A “Post Requirement” is an enquiry you write once for sellers to answer; “Get Best Price” is a second button on the same page, and the footer adds a “Buyers Tool Kit”.
- Pricing
- Each seller sets its own price and terms; the home page we read publishes no buyer price list of its own.
- Limits
- Sellers are independent businesses, so check each one yourself: ask for GSTIN, a sample, and the HSN line that will go on your invoice before you pay.
- First-hand note
- Not tested: we read the logged-out home page on 22 Oct 2026 and placed no enquiry.
- Open the site
- Open IndiaMART (indiamart.com)
2. TradeIndia
TradeIndia's About page says it “connects buyers and suppliers” and serves SMEs, large enterprises and individuals. Its own timeline lists “1996 Launched” (tradeindia.com, read 22 Oct 2026).
- Best for
- Buyers who want a supplier directory that names individuals among its users, not only registered firms.
- Key facts
- The About page calls TradeIndia “one of India's largest and oldest B2B marketplace”; it does not set out a buyer's ordering steps, so expect to contact suppliers listed on it directly.
- Pricing
- Set by each supplier; the About page publishes no buyer prices.
- Limits
- As with any enquiry site, the supplier, not TradeIndia, is the party you buy from; check the GSTIN and get terms in writing.
- First-hand note
- Not tested: About page read on 22 Oct 2026; no inquiry sent.
- Open the site
- Open TradeIndia (tradeindia.com/about-us)
3. ExportersIndia
ExportersIndia takes orders the same way: a “Post Requirement” button that says “Tell suppliers what you need.” Its page title calls it “India's Leading B2B Marketplace for Manufacturers, Exporters & Suppliers” (exportersindia.com, read 22 Oct 2026).
- Best for
- Buyers looking for a manufacturer rather than a trader, since the site names manufacturers, exporters and suppliers as the businesses it lists.
- Key facts
- The button's own line is “Tell suppliers what you need.” Despite “exporters” in the name, the title lists manufacturers and suppliers as well.
- Pricing
- Quoted by each supplier; no buyer price list on the home page we read on 22 Oct 2026.
- Limits
- Expect replies from sellers of different sizes; ask if each reply comes from the maker or a trader, and for its GSTIN, before you compare prices.
- First-hand note
- Not tested: home page read on 22 Oct 2026; no requirement posted.
- Open the site
- Open ExportersIndia (exportersindia.com)
4. udaan
udaan works like a shop for retailers, not an enquiry board: you sign up with your mobile number, business name and pin code, then “Upload GSTIN or Shop License for instant KYC approval”. Its page heading is “B2B Buying for Retailers” (udaan.com, read 22 Oct 2026).
- Best for
- A shop that reorders everyday stock and has a GSTIN or a shop licence to show.
- Key facts
- What udaan says it sells: “Premium staples, snacks, beverages & daily essentials”, plus medicines. On credit it says “flexible financing options”; read the terms on udaan before you use them.
- Pricing
- Not shown on the home page we read.
- Limits
- KYC needs a GSTIN or a Shop License, so an unregistered reseller has no stated route in. The categories named are groceries and essentials, not apparel.
- First-hand note
- Not tested: logged-out home page read on 22 Oct 2026; no account opened.
- Open the site
- Open udaan (udaan.com)
Selling rather than buying? Listing your own products on IndiaMART is a different job, covered in our IndiaMART catalog guide; other selling channels are on other marketplaces for sellers.
How to buy wholesale online: choosing an online wholesale market
Answer three questions before you open any of the four. Take a new Meesho reseller choosing between enquiry quotes for kurtis and a retailer site for repeat stock: the answers below point her to a different site for each job.
- Do you have a GSTIN or a shop licence? udaan's KYC asks for one of the two; without either, start with an enquiry site.
- Do you want to negotiate each lot? Post one requirement on IndiaMART or ExportersIndia and compare the replies; quantities, sizes and delivery are agreed with the seller, not the site.
- What does the product need before you can resell it? Toys are on BIS's compulsory-certification list (Toys (Quality Control) Order, 2020), and every product carries its own HSN line; check the category before you pay.
Then price the lot. Put the quoted cost per piece, freight and the marketplace fee into the wholesale margin calculator, and check the product's code in the HSN code finder so the supplier's invoice matches what you will list. More seller tools are on tools for marketplace sellers.
Buying from China instead of India is a different process: DGFT says no import is made without an Importer-Exporter Code unless specifically exempted, explained in our IEC code guide.
