Mobile accessories wholesale: what is on the BIS list
Read each entry as BIS writes it, not by trade name. Power banks appear as "POWER BANKS FOR USE IN PORTABLE APPLICATIONS". Phone chargers fall under one of two power-adaptor entries: "POWER ADAPTORS FOR IT EQUIPMENTS" (IS 13252 (Part 1):2010) or audio-video adaptors (IS 616:2010). Earbuds sit under "Wireless Headphone and Earphone", IS 616:2017 (CRS product list).
No separate "charger" entry exists. That does not exempt chargers: in BIS terms a charger is a power adaptor. Wired earphones run opposite. Wireless ones are listed and wired ones are not, so a carton of wired earphones has no registration to verify.
Buying loose cells? Sealed lithium cells and batteries carry their own entry, IS 16046 (Part 2):2018. Handsets share IS 13252 (Part 1):2010 with power banks and smart watches.
Power banks, chargers and wireless earbuds: checking the R-number
BIS’s own BIS CARE app verifies a product carrying BIS’s Registration Mark by its R-number: "Enter a valid eight-digit R- no. and just hit 'Go'." If what comes back does not describe what sits in your box, query your supplier before paying (BIS CARE).
Legal basis: Electronics and Information Technology Goods (Requirement of Compulsory Registration) Order, 2021, S.O. 1248(E) dated 18 March 2021. Its latest amendment we found is S.O. 2204(E), 5 May 2026 (Gazette of India). Amendments keep coming, so trust today’s list over a supplier’s printout.
Worked example: a mixed carton of covers, glass and power banks
A Meesho seller orders one mixed carton: printed covers, tempered glass, a few power banks. Covers and glass sit outside CRS, so check fit by model and finish. Power banks need registration verified, so spend your time there before paying.
Buying earbuds and speakers in bulk: four checks
- Find an R-number on box or product. No number printed? Ask your supplier for one.
- Enter it in BIS CARE. Eight digits; licence numbers (CM/L) use another field.
- Match entry to box. Earbuds belong under "Wireless Headphone and Earphone", speakers under "Bluetooth Speakers", both IS 616:2017.
- Keep your supplier’s tax invoice with its HSN line. Look that code up on GST portal HSN search before copying it into your listing.
Verify one number per model, not one piece per lot, and keep dated screenshots.
Mobile cover wholesale and tempered glass
Phone covers, cases, screen guards and tempered glass are absent from CRS, so no registration applies (our reading of all entries, 22 Oct 2026). Any supplier calling a cover "BIS approved" sells a claim BIS never made.
Checks here are practical. Covers fit one handset model, so order by model and count camera cut-outs on a sample. For glass, match model names on packs to phones; screen size in inches misleads.
