How to resize a NEET photo and signature to the right KB
- Use a passport size photo taken after 01 January 2026, colour or black & white, your face filling 80% of it with ears visible, no mask, on a white background.
- Crop it to passport size first in the passport size photo maker; the bulletin gives no pixel size, so any clear passport-shape crop works.
- Add the photo above and keep 80 KB. Run the signature the same way at 80 KB or less, since its cap is 100; for the finger and thumb sheet, type the limit your form shows.
- Do not type the minimum, 10: the file stops at or under the target × 1,000 bytes, so it can land just under 10 KB (our photo saved 9,254 bytes).
- Read the bytes in the result line, press Download and upload the .jpg it saves. NTA allows no correction of the photo, signature or impressions later, so check each file first.

The 80 KB default fits the photo and the signature at once. A file of at most 80,000 bytes sits inside the photo’s 10–200 KB and the signature’s 10–100 KB, whether the portal counts a kilobyte as 1,000 or 1,024 bytes. Keep prints as well: the bulletin asks you to keep 6 to 8 passport size and 4 to 6 postcard size (4" × 6") colour photos with a white background for the exam centre, counselling and admission (p. 17).
NEET photo upload problems and fixes
The form says the photo is under 10 KB
You typed the minimum. At a 10 KB target our 1024 × 1024 px photo saved 9,254 bytes at 870 × 870 px, under 10 KB on any reading. Keep 80 KB: the same photo saved 79,896 bytes.
The signature is over 100 KB
Type 80 or less. The signature cap is 100 KB, and our 1000 × 400 px signature scan saved 76,236 bytes at 80.
The live photo does not match the Aadhaar photo
NTA matches the live photograph with your Aadhaar record. If they differ, you verify your identity by uploading a signed, attested certificate with a certified photograph, as in Annexure-VI. Sit in good light against a light wall, ears visible, without a mask.
The photo is rejected as unclear or computer-generated
The bulletin does not accept Polaroid or computer-generated photos, and unclear photographs are liable to rejection. Use a camera photo with your face filling 80% of it against white.
I uploaded the wrong photo
NTA gives no correction facility for the photo, signature or finger and thumb impressions, so open each downloaded file and check it before you submit.
