How to make the SSC signature 10–20 KB
- Sign on plain white paper and take a straight, well-lit photo of it, or scan it.
- Crop it to a 3:1 shape, three times as wide as it is tall, to match “about 6.0 cm × 2.0 cm”. Our test scan was 1200 × 400 px.
- Add the crop to the box above and keep 18 KB. That lands between 10 KB and 20 KB however the portal counts a kilobyte.
- Press Compress & Download and read the bytes in the result line: our 1200 × 400 scan came out at exactly 18,000 bytes.
- Upload that JPG in the signature field. For the photograph, follow the form’s camera step; there is no photo file to prepare.

SSC signature upload problems and fixes
The form says the signature is under 10 KB
Typing the minimum is the trap. A 10 KB target saved 9,850 bytes on our test, under 10 KB on any reading. Keep the 18 KB default.
The signature looks stretched or squashed after upload
The compressor keeps the shape of what you give it. A phone shot of a signature is often wider or taller than 3:1 (ours was 1600 × 700, about 2.3:1), so crop to 3:1 before compressing.
I cannot find where to upload my photo
In CHSL 2026 there is no photo upload: paragraph 9.4 says the application module captures your photograph while you fill the form. Sit facing the camera in good light when you reach that step.
An older guide gives a photo size in pixels and KB
Those figures do not appear in the 2026 CHSL notice. Follow the notice for the exam you are applying to, not a figure from an earlier year.

With 20 typed, the same scan saved 19,934 bytes; with 10 typed, 9,850 bytes. A 1600 × 700 phone photo of a signature saved 17,587 bytes at 18 KB, but at 2.3:1 it needs cropping first. Tested on this page, 24 Oct 2026.

There is no photo file to size: the CHSL 2026 form captures your photograph live, and the notice says you do not need a pre-existing photo (para 9.4).
What is the SSC signature size?
A JPEG of 10 to 20 KB, about 6.0 cm wide and 2.0 cm high, per para 9.6 of the CHSL 2026 notice.
What is the SSC signature size in pixels?
The notice gives centimetres, not pixels. Keep the 3:1 shape; our 1200 × 400 px test scan saved at 18,000 bytes with the 18 KB target.
Is the SSC CGL photo also captured live?

Why is my SSC signature rejected as under 10 KB?
Because a 10 KB target lands just under 10 KB: ours gave 9,850 bytes. Use 18 KB.
