Meesho GSTIN number — where it goes, and why it gets rejected

For suppliers adding or fixing a GSTIN on their Meesho account — where it goes, what the number should look like, and why a valid one still sometimes bounces.

Your GSTIN goes into the Supplier Panel under Account Settings → GST Details, entered exactly as it appears on your GST registration certificate — 15 characters, starting with your state code and ending with a check digit. Meesho validates the format and the linked business name automatically; a mismatch between that name and your registered business name is the most common reason it gets rejected.

Where to add or update your GSTIN

In the Supplier Panel, under Account Settings → GST Details (the exact menu wording has shifted between Meesho updates, but it stays under Account Settings). Enter the 15-character number precisely as printed on your certificate — no spaces, correct case, no extra characters.

If you registered without a GSTIN and add one later, Meesho re-validates the account before ads and full-category access unlock — this isn’t instant, so add it as soon as you have it rather than waiting until you need the features it unlocks.

Reading a GSTIN, in case yours looks wrong

A GSTIN follows a fixed structure: the first two digits are your state code, the next ten characters are your PAN, followed by an entity code, a default ‘Z’, and a final check digit. If what you have doesn’t follow that shape — wrong length, no recognisable PAN in the middle — it isn’t a valid GSTIN, and Meesho will reject it at entry rather than silently accepting a bad number.

To check a list of GSTINs for basic format validity before entering them anywhere, the site’s bulk GSTIN checker runs the same structural check offline.

Why a valid-looking GSTIN still gets rejected

Format isn’t the only thing checked. The registered business name behind the GSTIN has to reasonably match the name on your Meesho account and your bank details — a GSTIN registered to “Priya Textiles” against a Meesho account and bank account both in a personal name is a mismatch, even though the GSTIN itself is perfectly valid.

Fixing this is usually a matter of aligning the three names — GST registration, Meesho account, bank account — to the same registered entity, rather than anything wrong with the number itself.

Frequently Asked Questions

Where do I enter my GSTIN on Meesho?

In the Supplier Panel under Account Settings → GST Details. Enter it exactly as printed on your GST certificate — 15 characters, no spaces or extra characters.

Why is my GSTIN not accepted on Meesho?

Usually one of two reasons: the format is wrong (not 15 characters, or doesn't follow the state code + PAN + entity code + check digit structure), or the registered business name on the GSTIN doesn't match your Meesho account and bank details. Check the format first, then check the name match.

Can I change my GSTIN after registering on Meesho?

Yes, through Account Settings → GST Details. Meesho re-validates the account after a change, which can briefly affect ad and category access while it processes — add or update it as soon as you have the correct number rather than close to when you need the features.

What does a Meesho GSTIN number look like?

The same 15-character format as any Indian GSTIN: two digits for the state code, ten characters matching your PAN, a two-character entity/check segment, and a final check digit. There is nothing Meesho-specific about the format — it is the standard GST registration number.

Do I need a GSTIN to add my bank details on Meesho?

No — bank details and GSTIN are separate fields, and you can register without a GSTIN in eligible categories. Adding a GSTIN later unlocks Meesho Ads and full category access, which the no-GST route doesn't include.

Menu wording in the Supplier Panel shifts between Meesho updates. The field stays under Account Settings even when the exact label changes — if you can’t find it, search Settings for “GST” rather than assuming it moved elsewhere.
